FAQs
Not always — but it depends on your existing switchboard capacity and whether it has safety switches. We assess this during quoting. If an upgrade is needed, we can handle both jobs together, which saves you time and money compared to getting separate trades involved.
Most standard home installs are completed in 2–4 hours on the day. If cable runs are long or the switchboard needs work, it may extend to a full day. We'll give you an accurate timeframe when we quote.
A 7kW (32A single-phase) charger is the standard for most homes and adds roughly 40–50km of range per hour of charging — more than enough for overnight charging. A 22kW (3-phase) charger charges about 3× faster but requires 3-phase power, which isn't available at all properties. We'll advise which is appropriate for your situation and vehicle's on-board charger limit.
Both options work. If you've already purchased a charger unit, we're happy to install it (subject to it being a compliant, Type 2 EVSE). We can also supply and install a unit — we'll recommend options based on your needs and budget. We're not locked into any single brand.
Yes — always. A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is issued for every job. It's a legal requirement and protects you when it comes to home insurance and future property sales. If any electrician offers to skip this, walk away.
Yes. Strata and townhouse installs need a bit more planning — sub-metering so you only pay for your own power, and approval documentation for the body corporate. We've handled these before and can help you navigate the process, including liaising with your strata manager if needed.
